This radome pendant is inspired by the architecture of RAF Menwith Hill, a military base in North Yorkshire near Harrogate. Commanded by the Royal Air Force, it accommodates personnel from the United States Air Force and US National Security Agency (NSA). It's said to be part of the global surveillance system ECHELON, which originated during the Cold War to intercept Soviet communications and missiles. Edward Snowden’s leaked NSA files link Menwith Hill to eavesdropping on civilians.
Menwith Hill’s distinctive radomes are highly visible, but its operations and role in counter-terrorism, military and civilian surveillance remains secretive and inaccessible.
This radome is 8cm in diameter, with a 60cm gold plated trace chain.
